TANNERYBOT – Vision-guided pick-and-place system for feeding a leather production line
The TanneryBot project aims to develop and implement an automated pick-and-place system assisted by machine vision. Its purpose is to optimise the handling and transfer of hides at the start of the coating process, replacing the current manual loading operation.
The system will be developed, implemented and validated on a pilot line at Curtumes Boaventura. The project will focus on reducing cycle times, increasing overall process productivity and making better use of staff on the factory floor. It also aims to reduce coating waste and defects, while preparing the system for adoption and integration with advanced production management systems, such as MES and AGVs.
